My little five year old grandson had ear surgery - again! - yesterday. He'd had tubes in his ears, and both surgeries were to close the hole in the ear drum with a graft. The first one apparently didn't work because he got an ear infection immediately after the surgery. The doctor told my son that if this graft didn't take, he would probably have a hearing loss to some degree.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for the next few days.

Jackie - prayers coming for your grandson and a speedy recovery. Most kids who have tubes don't get these issues.

Oh no!! My child just had tubes removed & the dr. said that they left holes in both eardrums. We are on monitor status right now until they decide what to do. Hopefully we have a better turnout than your grandson. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery!

Thanks, everyone! So far things appear to be good. He went back to school yesterday for the first time since the surgery. He's not in any pain and seems to hear things normally, but I've only talked with him on the phone.

Thanks, again. To those who are or will experience the same with with their children or grandchildren, my sympathies are with you.
