Apparently its brain-freeze Friday...please help...

We are a next-day availability bank and at times apply case-by-case rules, or exception holds. In the instance where we are applying a 5-day case-by-case hold to a deposit containing non-local checks that happens to be over $5,000 (though not applying the large deposit exception), do we still need to make the first $5,000 available on the second day? Or can we just hold the entire deposit (less $100) for five days?
Opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.

For case by case holds you must make the first $100 available. You can make more, but why? You can place a 5 day case by case hold for the deposit less $100.
