If someone voids a cashier's check or money order, my bank requires that they log it on the sold spreadsheet as voided and then they are to send it to one central location where it is logged into another voided spreadsheet. Periodically audit will verify voided checks, but I'm not sure we've got the most effective procedures in place.

Would anyone be willing to share the steps they use for properly tracking voided checks?

We use to just run the credit and debit half through proof for $.01. No additional tracking was needed and out of order transactions could still be easily spotted.
