Did you know last year we picked up a "Holiday" cactus from Wal-Mart? Don't know what that is? Because it's formerly a Christmas Cactus.

People are far too sensitive and need to get thicker skin. I'm not religious but I love the holidays because people tend to be a little nice (typically), the decorations are lovely, and cooking takes on a greater level of flair. I say, Bring Back Christmas!

I own a Christmas cactus. It will never be Happy Holidays for me, just Merry Christmas.

Our Walmart had a number of nativity scenes in the Christmas department last year. I was looking for a stable for the one I bought there last year and they have NOTHING in the store that even hints at the real meaning of Christmas.

Christmas is a Christian religious holiday. It is founded on the birth of Christ. So why can't it be Christmas? If you don't like the name don't celebrate.

I have to admit it has become very materialistic but it is still a religious holiday. We Christians do not make other religions change the name of their holidays to suit us.

I wasn't looking for philosophical debate - I thought we were whining about people being sensitive over holiday titles.

First groups were all up in arms because their ads are not 'christ'masy enough, now they are all up in arms because they went to far be including other 'celebrations' into the ad

Personally, I just think it is a fun cute ad.

This ad disgusted me.... Will not be shopping at GAP anytime soon - that and it sounded terrible

I'm good with Christmas, but Santa? Really now Jesus was NOT born to a jolly guy in a red suit.

My kids schools were closed for Yom Kippur this year, but it was called fall recess (for one day).

Are you kidding? Why not call it Yom Kippur? Like I said we don't all have to celebrate but we should recognize the religious holidays.

I am serious. I don't know why they do that. Christmas break is called winter recess too. I think its all pretty silly.

If you start giving "Christmas break" in your school system, why can't someone sue for Eid break, or Yom Kippur break, or Diwali break, or Tet break, etc...

Not saying it's right one way or another but this is probably the thinking behind it.

so by calling it winter break makes it different? School calendars are set based on attendance patterns. If there are enough muslims, schools will close for holidays where enough kids do not attend school on that day.

That is why my district started closing on Yom Kippur and that is why there are some districts in Michigan that have off some muslim holidays.
