I've had a Blackberry in the past. I want an iPhone, but AT&T is horrible in my area.

Initially, I really wanted the iPhone but i drop my phones. A lot. And replacing that would cost so much.

Plus, Verizon is running this deal now where, with the purchase of select Blackberrys, you can get a free notebook computer. Sounds like a good deal, but my contract doesn't end until the end of the year and I wanted a new phone in February. So, we'll see.

Good poll

Do you have to purchase a mobile broadband plan for the notebook?

That's what isn't in the fine print. I'm sure this would be required, along with a 2-year contract. It's about $40/mo for the cheapest package for the broadband plan on the notebook. It could get pricy.

Yeah, and the $40/mo plan only includes 250mb of traffic. I use more than that in a day at home.

What I don't know about is if you can connect to personal Wi-Fi without dipping into that allowance. It indicated use of the Verizon Wi-Fi public system (I don't have the ad with me, so don't know the exact verbage) without incurring fees or affecting the 250mb.

I've had the same company since my first phone 15 years ago. It was bought out through the lines and eventually became Verizon. I'm happy with the coverage, but I live in Phx so it's good.

I have - and hate - a Blackberry storm. Too many bugs, and I'm tired of being told "just take out the battery for a few seconds..." I also have an iPod touch, which I LOVE. I think I'm going to suck it up and go with the iPhone when my contract comes up. Even if the phone is only decent, it will be better than what I have, and I know I'll like the rest of the functions already.

Supposedly in 2010 when AT&T's exclusivity ends it'll be on VZW.

Apple is already developing a CDMA version for China Mobile, so the technology is there to do it.

Go to the App store on your storm and download "quick pull." It does the same thing as a batery removal without the hassle.

I have a Blackberry Curve with T-Mobile and I love it. My hubby and I both like to have keyboards, and the curve gives us the best of both worlds. We'll probably upgrade to the new BB model that just came out when the price drops a bit.

I really wish cell phone companies would lower the price of their phones when purchasing in the middle of a contract.

$500 for a phone?

I know they discount them when you renew your plan and Verizon lets you upgrade after one year (only on one line though) and upgrade all lines in 20 months.

But I want the new technology now! and at a cheaper price

Honestly, someone could make a fortune if they offered an iPhone or similar for $50/mo with unlimited usage and good coverage.

No one would ever change companies.

That would be a stellar deal, MB Guy. I'm having a hard time justifying +-$100/mo for a phone after I buy it.

I think purchasing a cell phone is a rip off. There is no way that the phone costs anywhere near $300 - $500. It's a racket. My husband's phone went on the fritz a little over a year after he got it. We were in the middle of the plan and he wasn't able to upgrade. The simple phone that he got cost over $400 - not a Blackberry or iPhone. Ridiculous!

Sorry - this hits a nerve with me a little bit. Can you tell?

i HAVE a Blackberry Curve with AT&T (work phone). I don't really like it anymore. Internet is slow and not enough apps. It got better when I upgraded the software, but still ok.

Really like my wife's Blackberry Tour. Much nicer than the Curve.

i WISH i could have a iPhone (pretty much why i bought my wife an iTouch for Christmas - i just want to play with the apps).

i have a friend that works for motorola, and has the Droid. That phone seems WAAAY better than the iPhone. (all hail the mighty google)

Our kids have the iPhone. The apps are nice but they say as a phone it sucks! My husband is an IT Director and also teaches computer classes and he told me that they tested the two phones and they were able to hack into an iPhone in 2-3 minutes and not the Blackberry. His school uses Blackberrys for all their phones. I went with the Blackberry Bold. I would love to have the bigger screen and all the cool apps on the iPhone but I love my keyboard. My daughter also can't open attachments on her e-mail on her iPhone or get pictures on MMS. And the darn thing won't upgrade! So there are pros and cons to each. My sister just got an iPhone and it slipped out of the case in her purse and landed on the floor and now the are parts of the screen that are hard to work. They aren't the most sturdy phone out there.

QM, one of my good friends bought the iPhone and had a protective film put over it. But that didn't help when she dropped it in the parking lot then in the hot tub.

I would like to try out the Droid but I have another year and four months before I'm eligble for an upgrade! I don't really have any complaints about my current phone though...just like all the bells and whistles on the Droid.

I was contemplating the Droid, but you have to upgrade to the ~$40/mo data service mandatorily.

So, I ended up with the Samsung Rogue with a $9.99/mo service package. So far, so good I suppose.

From what I have heard, many other countries have much cheaper internet and cell phone service than the US, which is ridiculous.

What I really want is an iPod Touch plus a Blackberry Tour (plus a cute little Saturn Sky convertible in silver). Santa, are you reading this??? laugh

Since I was limited in the polling to just one choice, I voted iPhone because that may be my compromise... I want all those coooool apps... but in any event, I'm waiting until 2010 when Verizon can be my service, after AT&T's exclusive dealie is over.

Considering AT&T claims on that map ad to have coverage in my neck of the woods, but doesn't, I'm wondering how they get by with that claim? Or does charging people a lot in roaming fees count?

I had a Blackberry Curve through AT&T as my corporate cell phone in my last job - that replaced my personal cell and I used it for nearly 2 years. I *loved* it and miss it. It was quick and efficient and I loved having the keyboard. I do not like touch-screen phones and so the iPhone is not appealing to me. Plus, I don't care for all the apps, I just want easy email access and quick access to the internet.

I could have kept my Blackberry when I left, but I would have had to pay another $30-40/month on my personal plan to have the data plan. And I don't need to check my personal email or Facebook status during the day for that cost. smile

That's where I'm torn, AG. I really, really would love the Droid but it's a first gen so I'm thinking there are a lot of bugs to work out.

I do, however, love being able to get a new phone every two years.

I've been looking at phones the last few days since I am getting a new one for Christmas. From all the reviews I've read, the Droid seems like one of the best. A lot of the reviews for the Blackberry weren't that great. I didn't realize tho that you had to get the $40/mo data service with the Droid. I will have to read up on it some more.

Any smartphone now requires a data plan of at least 30 dollars.

The biggest knock on the droid so far is that the gps can be a little wonky.

Blackberrys have fallen behind the iPhone and the android powered phones now.

I know this wasn't one of the options, but I have to chime in about the Droid - I have it and LOVE it. The aps are great, the turn by turn voice Navigation w/ Google maps is awesome, the storage for all my music, and it's way easy to use.

My BB curve has a non-voice navigation and it's kinda a pain to try and read the phone...

I would have to say that the Iphone is the best phone. I have a friend with the Droid and one with the Palm Pre and although they are both really nice and a few of the features are nicer than the Iphone...the total package of the iphone outweighs the competition.
