Darned humans. Why can't we be more civilized like the rest of the galaxy?

For what its worth - I would not take young kids to it unless they are used to seeing violence. No, it doesn't show bloody gorey guts everywhere but it is definately not PG. Lots of battle sceens and some language that I wouldn't want mine repeating. It is all out war in some parts (minus the guts but definate violence), people getting shot and stabbed and blown up in choppers, etc etc. Just my opinion....but overall, movie was great.

Yeah, Sherlock Holmes starts Friday, on Christmas. It is directed by Guy Ritchie and I love his films. Hopefully it will be in the same vein as his others, like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Rock N' Rolla. Awesome movies!!!

Well, got snowed in this weekend (20 inches) and am going tp Avatar Tuesday night. Son was bummed we didn't go but when all the roads are closed and open to EMS personnel only, I don't think it was worth it to try to go. Well, maybe it was but the movie will still be there on Tuesday. smile

I think Robert Downey Jr. is an excellent actor, and I have read all the Sherlock Holmes stories. So what's not to like??

The special effects were stunning, and the story was compelling. I could have done without the blatant left-wing political message though. (Think "Dances With Wolves in Space").

Can anyone tell me if the IMAX 3D version is worth another 30 minute drive, and more cash over the standard 3D version?

You can't pick on her this week. She brought her hair on a booze trip this week sunning on the beach. She isn't here to defend herself...but her hair is still reaching the end of the building, trying to get in!! whistle

I tried to get tickets for the IMAX 3D version but the showtimes were sold out.

We went to the regular 3D version and our whole family loved it!

Sherlock Holmes was a good movie, I really liked the way that Sherlock and Dr. Watson were portrayed. (I watched all of the all of the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes episodes when I was out with brain surgery)

Avatar's special effects were awesome. I'd like to live on a "beautiful planet" like "Pandora" I think the "company" in this movie is the same "company" in the Alien movies per my husband.

Saw this Sunday in 3-D and thought it was great!! Didn't realize it was in 3-D until my friend told me about it and I was glad we saw it that way. First movie in a long time that the audience actually clapped at the end.

I want to see Sherlock Holmes too even though it has been receiving bad reviews.

I liked Sherlock Holmes, too (and I'm a diehard Brett fan). I should write and congratulate R.R. on the fight work.

I'm hoping to see Avatar 3D for New Year's.

Avatar does have some killing but not any gore. The Na'vi chief gets killed and there is some crying. I think for 7 or 8 yr olds it would be fine.

My son has seen it twice and wants to go again. So do I. Effect were awesome; this will be the standard for 3-D movies from now on. Very realistic - you feel like you are actually on Pandora. And wish I were! Beautiful.

9 or ten, but I would recommend they first read the first chapter of The 10 Big Lies About America entitled "Big Lie #1: America Was Founded On Genocide Of Native Americans" for perspective.
