When disclosing the fees a bank charges for overdrafts and for NSF, is the bank allowed to combine all of these fees into one amount on the statement. For example, a bank's automated system automatically assesses an NSF fee when an item is presented and is insufficient. The bank then makes the decision of whether to pay or return that item but either leaves the fee in place or reverses. Since the fee is the same whether the bank returns the item or pays it, the segregation of recoding of the fees may be very time consuming. Please advise.

The bank is required to separately disclose fees for paying items that overdraw the account and fees for returning items unpaid, regardless of whether the per item fees are the same amounts.

Another question with this...

If the person doesn't have a fee this month, but did in a prior month (same year) would we have to list month to date $0.00? Or can we just not list it?

Basically I need to know if we have to say
NSF Month to date $0.00
NSF Year to date $75.00
ODP Month to date $0.00
ODP Year to date $0.00

Or can we only list the months that have a value and leave the ones with $0.00 off the periodic statement.

Thanks!

You can omit any part of the table that has a $0 value. In your example, you would only have to include the YTD NSF of $75.00
