This is a question for those folks using Jack Henry Silverlake. A CIF record for a primary account owner requires a TIN. We have always used all 1's for non-US citizens in order to get past that required field. We just changed our teller system over to Vertex and got the CTR module, which pulls from the CIF records. JHA is telling me having 1's as TINs for all those customers will be a problem. Does anyone have a solution or experience with this?

Dumb Question: what's JH's solution to this? If you're using all of their products they should be able to help with this. Maybe we need to add something to the enhancement list to have a CIF code to indicate that the entity is a foreigner so that the TIN requirement could be overridden.

This is a little late and may not apply because we used JHA 20/20, but they had an alien customer module. You could flag the account as an alien account and leave the tax id number totally blank. You may want to ask support about this.

You can establish "CIF Tax ID Type" codes, such as F for non-reporting individual and N for non-reporting business, and indicate in your parameters that no IRS reporting is necessary. When you establish a CIF for an alien with no TIN, you use the proper CIF Tax ID type code and the system will not require you to enter a TIN.

You should use the "A" in the CIF Tax ID Type field to indicate a customer that has applied for, but not yet received, a TIN.

Alien information should be keyed into page 2 of the CIF. This will allow you to print alien reports using the options on your CIF menu (they are on the last CIF Menu page).

We are a Silverlake bank and use the Vertex teller system. The CTR module does allow you to make changes and create persons as well. You should be able to correct the the SSN when you go into the CTR module section.

The Vertex rep said the CTR module requires a TIN in the TIN field of the CTR. The teller has to put in some number, accurate or not, just to get by that field. The number then has to be deleted. If the teller puts in all 1's, the system will then link to that CTR all customers with TINs of all 1's. She said JHA knows there are problems when using the CTR module with non-US citizens.
As for the CIF records, I know we use the code for non-reporting businesses but was not aware of a code for non-reporting persons. I'll check that out.
Thanks for your help.
