Hope all of you BOLers have a safe, healthy, happy holiday. We have much to be thankful for.

Several of you suggested that we make an 8 1/2" by 11" version of the "Please do not annoy, torment, pester, [etc.] the Compliance Officer" sign. Sounded like a good idea to us, so here it is!
"Do not annoy" sign

We've also put a link to it in Banker Humor.

Right back at you MaryBeth, and also to the rest of you guys out there. My job would be much more difficult to do without you.

Thanksgiving Poem

When I was a young turkey, new to the coop,
My big brother Mike took me out on the stoop,
Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow,
And he told me there was something that I had to know;

His look and his tone I will always remember,
When he told me of the horrors of..... Black November;
"Come about August, now listen to me,
Each day you'll get six meals instead of just three.

"And soon you'll be thick, where once you were thin,
and you'll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin;
"And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed,
In'll burst the farmer's wife, and hack off your head;

"Then she 'll pluck out all your feathers so you're bald 'n pink,
And scoop out all your insides and leave ya lyin' in the sink;
"And then comes the worst part" he said not bluffing,
"She'll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing."

Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat,
I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat,
And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked,
I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked;
I began a new diet of nuts and granola,
High-roughage salads, juice and diet cola;
And as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes,
I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes;
I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half,
And tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed;
But 'twas I who was laughing, under my breath,
As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death;
And sure enough when Black November rolled around,
I was the last turkey left in the entire compound;
So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap;
I haven't a worry, so I eat and I nap;
She held me today, while sewing and humming,
And smiled at me and said "Christmas is coming..."

Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned, the dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation....
the thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round
'Til all of a sudden I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees...
"Happy eating to all --pass the cranberries, please!

May your stuffing be tasty, your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!!

Everybody have a wonderful holiday. Mr. Clean I saw a news report the other day where Jones Soda already sold out of the Turkey and Gravy Soda. (how sick is that)

Happy Turkey Day to all! For those who are traveling, safe and pleasant journeys. For those who will host, may your party be successful and stressless.

I, too, am thankful for this forum. Some days, this is the only thing that helps me keep a grip on my sanity.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
When I think of the first Thanksgiving celebration (NO, I wasn't there - they told us about it in school! ) and remember that they celebrated surviving, I am truely thankful for all of my friends on BOL who have helped me survive this past year. May God grant traveling mercies to those on the road this weekend and may you all have a blessed Thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends.

Whether I actually have a grip on my sanity is probably a debatable proposition.

I can assure you, whatever grip I do have on sanity is tenous at best.

Do you know the way to ...
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Everyone can celebrate making it through another year, no matter what ethnic or religious background they come from. It's the national holiday that most immigrants embrace first, and some visitors take it back to their home countries with them. (Maybe not the turkey dinner part, but at least the idea of Thanksgiving...)

I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend. Don't worry about napping while the football game is on - it's just the tryptophan in the turkey making you sleepy. And the (spiked) cider.

And in my house, Dawnies Brandy laced cream for the pumpkin cheesecake. LOL Dawnie, I made it last night (it's beautiful, not a crack one, and usually my stuff turns out ugly but tasting okay) and slept fitfully because I wanted some sooooo bad. I am looking forward to cutting that cheesecake almost as much as having some of my husbands deep fried, cajun turkey.
