A title that sums up what you do?

I think this is the best place for this, because I'm not really looking for an HR perspective. I've recently been asked to come up with a new job title/description for myself. Rather than asking for the "Queen of Compliance", I've resorted to narrowing it down to what I do most and best, which is representing compliance on corporate initiatives & projects, thus the title I've been asked to consider is Project Manager. I'm hesitant to leave out the word "compliance" because I still am representing only Compliance and I still plan on a long and prosperous career in the compliance industry. Along with representing compliane on corp. projects, I will still research compliance questions, provide feedback on the compliance program, provide training, and approve of disclosures, systems, or advertisements. What do you call a person who does all of that?

How about something simple and obvious -
Compliance Director or Compliance Manager Director of Compliance Compliance Specialist VP - Compliance

Here that would be only a part-time job. Add to that, Web Manager, Internet Banking Manager, Loan Reviewer, Interim IT, Graphic design for brochures, flyers, photo projects, photographer and resident musician. I'm sure there is something else, but it's been a long day!

Yikes, how many jobs do you get paid for?! I'm sure a lot has to do with size, and in fact, I would absolutely love to get paid for the photography function! Too much of what we do doesn't allow us to tap into our creative sides-

Assistant Corporate Compliance Director/Manager?
I'd stay away from Project Manager. The title tends to go to folks working on project specific goals. When the project is finished, Project Managers go bye bye.

That's what I'm afraid of, Project Managers are primarily an IT/IS function and almost a cliche, how long will they be around before a newer and better managment technicque comes around to replace them?

Good one, CubDave. I guess that's opposed to:

What about incorporating the term "risk" into your role. The industry is embracing a movement toward enterprise risk management, something that began over a decade ago when the FFIEC supervisors announced the 9-subject risk characteristics -- including compliance risk. In many of the large institutions, the "chief risk officer" function and moniker has replaced "director of compliance", "compliance officer", etc. It sounds like you also need to be delegated the authority for your role, as well, since your institution appears to already have a corporate compliance officer, etc., and you'll otherwise be getting into corporate political haggles over what your role is vis-a-vis the others. Become the "Risk Assurance Manager" or "Risk-Mitigation Manager". None of the other compliance-type people will know what your role really is, and you'll become the compliance-techno superstar!!

This presumption is my reality! Thank you all for your input, I knew I came to the right place!

They wouldn't go for Empress? Oh wait, that's the title I am campaigning for. How about "She Who Must be Obeyed?" Or the one I was given by a banker one time..... "RESPA B*tch." Sort of proud of that one.

Seriously, I think I like Compliance Risk Manager. Since the biggest part of your job is working on corporate projects, and really what you're doing on those projects is managing the compliance risk, I think it's a perfect title. Plus, it sounds kind of cool!
