Way, way south.
Went with the kids this weekend to see this and it was better than I expected.

I was unfamiliar with this previously. Has anyone read the books? Any good?

My husband took our 11 year old son and his buddy to see this last weekend. They all enjoyed it. The buddy had read the book and told me that the book was better. (Which I normally find to be true!)

My bet is that my son will want to get these books when we hit the bookstore next time.

Just finished reading the whole series just to keep up with #1 grangirl. They are to mythology what Harry Potter was to magic. Even the storylines are strangely similar. I thought it was an interesting redo. Didn't go into character history and development like Rowling did. Gran likes them better than Potter. But then, she likes Twilight too and I have yet to finish book 3.

My son also loves these books and he is not my reader. I hope his dad takes him to see it.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
My daughter loved the books - read the entire series. We saw the movie opening weekend. I enjoyed the movie - haven't read the books. They changed a lot in the movie according to my daughter, but she still enjoyed it.

I guess I could see that.

The part where Percy and his cohorts were in the casino was very flat compared to the rest of the quests for the pearls, and could have been made much more dramatic.

Not a great movie, but entertaining for a kids movie.

I've been reading the books, and I'm down to "The Last Olympian". The books are ok, not as good as Harry Potter was, but the target audience seems to be a little younger.

I've requested them on Paperbackswap, but it's going to be something like two years before I get them, according to the estimates the site has, based on how many wishes have been granted previously. Good thing I don't have any shortage of other reading material!
