dual story lines JJ. In one, they are on the island and dealing with the smoke monster in Locke's body. In the other, they never exploded and made it back to LA and are all meeting each other and having an effect on each other's lives.

Ben in the LA school system, that explains a lot!
Using biblical brothers, a closer pair might be Cain and Able, rather than Jacob and Esau.

I thought about the Jacob/Esau possibility, but had not thought about Cain/Able. That's interesting. Or maybe it's God and satan with a Garden of Eden twist. Like the serpent, Evil Locke is tempting them with the promise to answer all questions that Jacob wouldn't answer.
I noticed that Kate's name was not included in the cave. Only Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Sun/Jin, Sawyer, and Locke.

Does the young boy represent an even higher power on the island, one that has set the rules for Jacob and newLocke?
Lana knows stuff, I couldn't believe Ben didn't just start peppering her with questions.
Did they show Kate's name in the cave? I missed it.
Ben as a teacher, was perfect.

No, her name was not there. They used the 6 names along with the 6 numbers.

I was wondering if there was a meaning behind the numbers. Duh! ::hits head:: I should have know that there was.

I thought it was interesting that Kate's name wasn't shown in the cave, too.
When they showed Locke in the teacher's lounge, why was Ben there? I just found that interesting. If the plane didn't crash, obviously if affected all the passengers and their future lives. But Ben was already on the island (for years) when the plane crashed, so wouldn't he still be on the island?
I really hope Sawyer doesn't get killed!

I have never been a fan of Sawyer or Shepherd, they both are full of drama...

If the island blew up, Ben never would have been on the island with Dharma.
Did they ever show Kate having an encounter with Jacob? I don't recall.

Weren't the Dharma's evacuating the island before the bomb was detonated? Perhaps little Ben was evacuated???? Anything that happened on the island after the bomb, ie. the plane crash, never happened.

It seemed that the choices presented to Sawyer were bogus....and I'm curious to whom the boy is referring when he says to Locke Monster that "you know the rules, you can't kill him"...is it Sawyer or perhaps "infected" Sayid??
I like that many of the island people serve the same function off the island...it sort of helps you see why they are there.
Interesting that Jacob did seem to be selecting people to come to the island...maybe there really isn't a good/evil bend to this story as much as it is about balance???
I thought the boy was referring to Jacob

That's right. Forgot about that.
If Dharma was on the island before it blew up - and they were, because they were drilling - when did Ben show up - pre-drilling or post-drilling.
Every time the Losties encounter one another, they seem to have some type of recognition, as though they know the person, but can't quite place them.

Well the serpent did tempt Adam and Eve with the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Oh man - that does not bode well..., after all, when Adam and Eve achieved knowledge, their lives went to [censored] in a handbasket - literally. So what does that mean for us thirsting for the answers to all of the Lost Questions?

I believe Ben got there about the time of the drilling, so he would have been on the island when the bomb went off. Wasn't it Ben's dad that shot Sayid?
