Way, way south.
So, what did everyone think of the season premiere?

Shane sure is trying hard to kill himself, which would be pretty fitting.

I think it's pretty genius how the writers have taken Cavanaugh (who is the "good guy" - disregarding him crossing the line to try and nail Vic, of course) and made him the bad guy when Vic's the one who has killed a cop and done countless bad deeds.

Great writing on this show.

I just watched last weeks episode today. Tuesday's looks great, Shane gets messed up in some accident and then confesses about Lem to someone. I wonder who he tells? He has his gun out so he is either going to kill himself or who ever it is that he tells.

I bet he ends up telling his wife or somebody like that.

I don't think Vic would ever forgive him....

Yeah, I don't see him telling Vic. I think Vic would kill him!

But this last episode I saw last night in rerun Shane told Vic.

Whew. This show still rocks.

WOOHOO
I'm not sure what is planned - it's looks like they are killing off the entire strike team, as it was. That must be a trip for the actors playing those parts. Shane appears to be next.

Only the star is safe, as it's TV!

Shane was relieved and happier than he had been since he killed Lem (seemingly because he unloaded his soul by finally telling someone what he did - his wife), and it made Vic and the other guy even more suspicious. They realized/guessed that Shane had absconded one or more grenades when the initial counting of the stash was found. When Vic confronted Shane at the scene where Lem died, they had an intense conversation and Shane admitted doing it.
Vic told him if he saw him again, he was a dead man.

Yeah I have a feeling Shane isn't going to make to the end of the season. I am suprised Vic didn't kill him right there.

I just found this (looking for something else and got this, LOL) but I was glad to find some fellow "Shield" fans!

So.... What did you all think of the series finale?!

My jaw dropped. The ending was fitting for Shane, but just how it went down (and that he took his wife and child with him?!) was horrific to see.

I love this show - I've been addicted to it since I first saw it and my husband and I own all the seasons on DVD now.

Excellent show, excellent ending. It's in the top 2 of series finales for me - second only to Six Feet Under's series finale.

I thought the series finale was terrible, Vic standing at the window...Shane killing the family, Vic's family entering witness protection...this was as bad as the ending of Seinfeld...

How would you have ended it?

They brought it to that point; didn't they almost have to end it like that? I kind of wished that Vic's family would have ended up one happy family just to have the show come full circle, and nice and neat, but then thought that it wasn't true to the show. In every one of the season finales something bad really did happen.

In other shows, you are left with a "cliff hanger" hoping that when the show returns that the bad things that you didn't want to happen to the protagonist didn't happen. And usually they didn't. That was never true for The Shield.

It would have been more fitting if the remaining member of Vic's team (Clem? never can remeber the other guy's name), upon finding out that Vic didn't get him immunity, pulled out a gun and started blasting. He and Vic would have killed each other...

Or, Vic and Clem go on a raid with the new DEA connection, only the raid is a setup and one of the gangs that he had been fleecing for years kills the two of them...he realizes he is being set up right before the shooting starts...

he tracks Corrine down, and starts to go off on her about running from him and taking his kids, she pulls out a gun and shoots him...

the DEA inserts a clause into the contract that says if he committed any acts they would grant immunity but the state wouldn't...he spills the beans only to get arrested on state charges...gets convicted and they show him being placed in general population at Chino...

I didn't want Vic dead but he certainly got what he deserved. His worst nightmare - a desk job AND his kids being taken away from him.

The Shane murder/suicide was awful, but I felt it was true to his character. He was a mess.

I always felt bad for Ronnie. He got screwed. He was (besides Lem) the good guy on the team.
