If you guys could spare some positive thoughts/vibes, could you send them here? frown It's now been confirmed by a second pediatrician that my 4 year old has a heart condition. I don't want to say too much, but we have been referred to a pediatric cardiologist whom we'll be seeing in early April. My little munchkin has to undergo more tests and screenings until we know the severity of the situation. The question whether or not something is wrong (we know it is), the question is how severe it is. The other two doctors we saw both seem to think, based on earlier tests, that she'll be low on the severity scale, but we need a specialist to actually determine that.

This just really sucks and makes my heart hurt. It's one of things where I feel helpless because I cannot influence the outcome in any way, kwim? Ugh.... cry

Thanks for any positive thoughts you can send my daughter's way.

I'm right there with you. Just found out my 9 yr old son may have a murmur caused by his ADD meds. Going to a ped cario next week to determine how bad. Your daughter is in my prayers.

Agnessa,

I understand so very well. Really I do. My little one's liver transplant was when she was 17 months old and now she is again facing severe complications. When she was 4 we did the best we could to shield her from all the garbage, but since she has spent over a year of her life in and out of the hospitals, she didn't mind so much at that age.

You will be strong because she needs you to be. I pray that whatever the outcome is, that you have the strength to handle it.

Hugs to you and your family. This is scary stuff. My 7 year old great niece just had a heart procedure last week. Unfortunately one of the things didn't 'take' and she may have to undergo again.

Thanks, QCL... I have followed your story and it's amazing to me all that you and your little one have been through. This, in comparison, is not nearly as scary but it still sucks in its own way... A lot. I'm staying positive that the other doctors were right and the severity of the condition is on the low end of the spectrum. It will still bring about changes (continuous monitoring, possible medication, etc.) but at this point I'll be so relieved simply if she doesn't have to undergo surgery.

No matter what, it sucks feeling helpless watching your child hurt. I agree, prayers that surgery isn't in the cards.

We have so much heart trouble in our family that we were surprised when my daughter had liver problems.
Liver? We said, "Are you sure it's not the heart?"

Technology has come so very far for the heart (and the liver too smile ). My sister was born 28 years ago with a condition known as Transposition of the great vessels. She did not make it. Flash forward to 2003 and we met with a family in the NICU whose son had the same thing and was expected to go home with a full recovery! Amazing. 3 of my cousins and my aunt have internal defibrillators for their condition known as long QT syndrome.

I guess what I am saying is, have faith - miracles do happen.

TF, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. My 10 year old niece had her most recent of three open heart surgeries last year to replace a valve (thank God for donors!).. I understand how tough facing the unknown can be.

I hope you love your child's cardiologist, & I hope there's an easy, painless fix. You have a cyber hug coming your way!

Thanks smile And I agree - the advancements in modern medicine never cease to amaze me. I also felt much better after talking to my college best friend last night for an hour. We don't talk much (busy lives) but he's a very good pediatrician and he knows all the lingo. He was able to make me feel much better. Which definitely was needed and appreciated!

Keeping you and you little one in my prayers. May the doctors have the wisdom to diagnose and treat her correctly and may she pull thru with flying colors!

More prayers and ((hugs)) from the midwest. May the God of your understanding give you strength to deal with whatever the doctors find. So hard to not be able to "fix" what's wrong with our kids. And (hugs) for your little one.
