I think Genesis belongs over ABBA and Iggy Pop and the Stooges...and Jimmy Cliff? It's the rock and roll hall of fame, not the reggae hall of fame...
Genesis with Peter Gabriel on vocals is deserving. Post Peter Gabriel, Genesis is nothing but pop...

yes, he did say detroit and new york as well, but the rock and roll hall of fame is also alphabetically inclined, therefore, cleveland was selected...plus, Drew said "Cleveland Rocks"

Neh, I disagree...well in the later years I agree with you but check out the early albums with Collins singing And Then There Were Three and Trick of the Tail and I can't imagine anything further from pop. It didn't reach the pop realm until the 80's.

FWIW Cleveland was chosen for the Hall of Fame because allegedly that is where the phrase "rock & roll" was coined.

I'm sticking with the Huey Lewis version of the story...makes better press...
In reality, Cleveland was just one of several cities that were in consideration, and the city government made the largest concessions and grant to fund it...New Orleans was in the running as well, and was about $8mm short what Cleveland promised
