Does a bank have to provide borrowers with a "toll-free" phone number on escrow statements? Presently we do not have a bank toll free number, and we're wondering if just providing the bank's main office phone number is ok?

I'm just working on a review of HOPA...I saw nothing that required a TOLL FREE number. the section is Title 12, Chap 49, sec 4903 "disclosure requirements"

Sorry, I was referring to the new Reg Z provisions effect 4-1-2010 requiring escrowing on higher priced mortgage(section 35) loans. We have to begin escrowing, and I assume we have to send this escrow notice to borrower, with bank name, address, & toll free phone number. Does it have to be toll free?

No, it does not have to be toll-free. But if it is not, then it must be a collect call number - in other words, no expense to your borrower.
