My sil (husbands sister) in Pittsburgh is in need of a kidney transplant and going through the process right now to prepare. Her husband is a match but a few health issues have been identified during his physical checkups, such as a totally blocked artery to the heart even though the heart is working very well. They think his body created it's own bypass. Don't know in the long run if he will be able to donate a kidney and then she will go on the list. We have become close over the last 40+ years and I am asking for your prayers for Terry and Jim as they go through all this. What I want is for Jim to be cleared for donating but it will be what it will be, just don't want to lose Terry.
Thanks in advance.

Hope things go well for them Croky!
I'm curious though, with all the surgeries and stuff we do these days, do doctors ever un-block arteries? Can't they just reroute blood during the surgery whiel they open it up and pull otu the yucky stuff, the close it up again? Sounds liek your brother is a really lucky guy to have that and seem to be fine.

Hopefully your BIL can have by-pass surgery if needed and then donate. My uncle had lung cancer at age 83, but they discovered he had a blockage before they could remove a lung. He had by-pass surgery and then 6 weeks later had his lung removed.
Prayers for your SIL, BIL and the entire family.

Your SIL is in my prayers Corky. I hope things work out where her husband can donate without any health risks to himself. Keep us posted!

They think his body created it's own bypass. Don't know in the long run if he will be able to donate a kidney and then she will go on the list. Thanks in advance. Prayers for your family. My father had the same thing and the doctor told him that older people handle bypass surgery better because their body has adapted and in his case also, the body "bypassed" on its own. I don't know how old your husband is but my father was in his 70's when he had the surgery. When we went to see him in the recovery room he didn't even look like he had surgery - color was good, no swelling/puffiness. He was awake and alert. the doctor said they never needed to put him on the bypass machine. On the other hand, my brother had bypass at the age of 40 and I didn't think he was going to make it (he was gray, very swollen, still out. Luckily he did recover - it just took him a lot longer.

Looks like everything is a go, at least on her husband's side. Her case is being presented today and hopefully no one will want any more tests so the surgery can be scheduled for anytime after mid May. Continued prayers would sure be welcomed.

So will your brother have to have surgery first? Wishing your family well, Corky!

God bless your sister in law and her husband Corky. I pray this match is used and works. At our age it would be difficult to go on dialysis and on the waiting lists.
If they go on the lists, I suggest they get on as many as possible. Are they vets? Maybe get on the vets' hospital lists. San Antonio Texas is very good and does about as many kidney transplants as anywhere.

All the tests for my sil's hubby are done and he is approved to donate a kidney. Right now it looks like it will happen on the 17th of May. Thanks for your prayers.
