I got Eric Pappas' autograph on a drink coaster at a bar in Chicago. He was a major league catcher. Played for the Cardinals and Cubs and wasn't very good.

Way, way south.
Met Mindy McCready (country singer) at a bar in Ft. Myers where she grew up. This was about 12 years ago before she crashed and burned HARD.

Living in Southern California for so long, I have met many famous people through the years. But, probably the most famous AND the one who spoke to ME first, was Katherine Hepburn.

I once met Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers on Santa Monica Pier. He was very gracious and sweet.

I handed roses to Barry Manilow as a small child at a concert, and I am told he threw me a kiss and winked at me (I don't remember this very clearly).

I met the entire Jamaican Bobsled Team in a bar and have a photo of a friend and me with all of them - they were a hoot, and we all drank many Red Stripe beers that night.

I've met many, many Illinois politicians (some of whom never even were in prison!) back in my more politically active days. Highlights were meeting Paul Simon and his wife and daughter - they were such nice and gracious people. At the national level, I met Dan Quayle and his wife during their campaign. Not real friendly, but there was a mad crush of people waiting to meet them.

I've met DePaul Blue Demons coaches Ray Meyer and his son Joey - they were just lovely to our family. My father's company remodeled the locker room building years ago. I also met Coach Jerry Wainwright (also Blue Demons).

I was about 2 feet from U2 at a really cool concert they did at my university. I met 2 of the Blowfish from Hootie and the Blowfish (but, no, I did not have a "Monica" from the T.V. show Friends type experience with any Blowfish). laugh
