Curious as to the consensus among sports fans where Lebron will be playing next year.

I don't think Cleveland will let him go anywhere else. When and if he does get to leave Cleveland, he'll end up in a Lakers Uniform like every other old guy ready to retire. Exactly what can Cleveland do to keep him from going if he wants to go?

Exactly what can Cleveland do to keep him from going if he wants to go? Nothing. They can offer him more money than anyone else. But those other teams can offer comparable money and I would bet he makes more for his off the court work than his on the court work.

That's my point. It's all gonna be about what Lebron values. If he values winning above all else, he's probably out of Cleveland. If he values the city of Cleveland and thinks they are building something there and wants to make the fans happy, he stays there. He's gonna get paid ludicrous bucks regardless of where he picks. But very little that Cleveland's management can do to sway him IMO.

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeetroit Basketbaaaaaaaaaaalllll Hah hah, I doubt it, but it would be cool to see him play for the Pistons. Although the NBA (and basketball in general) bores me to tears, so I don't really care who goes where. But since I'm married to a basketball player/coach, I know way more about this sport than I care to.

Lebron is a freakish athlete, but i agree...to this point in his career, he's not exactly a closer. If he went to Miami, the argument could even be made that he was the 2nd best player (not athlete) on that team.

Lebron does all he can to pretty much keep his team in the game throughout...if he had any help from the rest of the guys or the becnh, he wouldn't need to be a closer.
Funny how the guys who picked him 2 consecutive years as the NBA MVP claim he isn't a closer. So were they duped into voting for him? was it a popularity contest? Or did he suddenly start stinking up the place in post season? This kid has the potential to be the greatest basketball player of all time, if he can get into a system that offers him support. He is practically a one-man show in cleveland.

He did kinda stink it up in the post-season at times this year. I am not trying to rag on Lebron necessarily, just that at this point to me he is more Bo Jackson than Michael Jordan. Would i want him on my team? [censored] yeah. I'm just not ready to anoint him the greatest (or 2nd greatest) ever at this point. I agree Cleveland hasn't surrounded him with lots...but it is better now than it has ever been for them. Jamison is not bad and even an old Shaq is better than what many in the NBA have at center.

Not sure...don't know how much ego Lebron has....cuz i'm not sure in Miami he would even be the best player on the team. If he can subjugate his ego, i think Miami would actually be a great choice for him....but i'm not sure there that it would be Lebron being MJ and D-Wade being Pippen...

and even an old Shaq is better than what many in the NBA have at center. This sentence underlines how out of touch I am with pro basketball. I thought Shaq was still with the Lakers...

Lebron is going through what Jordan went through until he broke through. In the NBA, you need two great players to win the title. That's very true. Jordan had Pippen. Lebron has... fat, old Shaq? I'm thinking he'll go to Miami as well. The Knicks and Nets are too awful - he might as well stay in Cleveland if he wants to be a one-man team.

Dang..need to start a new thread now, cuz i'm peeved all over again thinking about Scottie Pippen being named one of the NBA's alltime top 50. To me, he was overrated. Yeah, good, even HOF good...but alltime top 50. No.

Yeah, good, even HOF good...but alltime top 50. No. I always thought it was hard to gauge Pippin's skills since he was always in MJ's shadow, but I don't think I'd put him in the top 50 either...

Small forwards that were better than Pippen IMO (and off the top of my head): Havlicek, Barry, Baylor, Erving, King, Bird, Wilkins (and that's just in my era)....well, except for Baylor.

I like how the last 2 minutes of a basketball game take as long as the first 46...
