We are changing our lobby hours. Does this require a 30 day notice to our customers????

I do not believe a change in hours requires 30 day notice to your customers. We did this at several of our locations. We reviewed our bylaws, which left the hours of operation discretion to the Board of Directors. So, we had the Board of Directors approve the change in the Board minutes. We did post a sign in the lobby and did a statement message to inform our customers, but not for a 30 day period prior to the change.

We are looking at changing the hours at our branch location. We will open 1/2 hour later and close 1/2 hour earlier. Is there anything in MN law requiring notification to our branch customers prior to reducing the hours? I know our Branch Closing policy doesn't require any, but does MN law? (We would post the new hours in the branch lobby.)

I'm going to bump up this last question, because I am wondering the same thing. Anyone know of any notification requirements to send to customers when shortening hours?

We are also considering changing our hours and have the same questions. Does anyone know what the MN law requirements are, or any other necessary steps that we'd need to take?

Thank you for your feedback!

Why would you not notify your customers? If I needed to make a last minute deposit and one day arrived at the bank and to my surprise find it closed, that would be the last deposit at that bank I would attempt to make.

We are planning on notifying our customers, we just wanted to verify whether or not there is a time requirement such as 30 days prior.

We are doing this now, and I was wondering if you ever decided anything about the 30 day requirement? Yes, I am notifying customers via lobby notice, drive up notices, statement stuffers, etc...but was wondering if a little less than 30 days would be acceptable regulatory-wise.

Thanks smile

How about if it's a situation where to close the lobby on a Sat but only use the drive up? 30 day notice?
Thank you!

So this is probably too late for you but thought I'd post anyway. About 3 years ago the bank I worked at wanted to reduce lobby hours (shortening hours on Friday and eliminating Saturday hours) so I called the State and they said there is no minimum notice requirement required by law. I believe we did 30 days just to give customers adequate notice.
