I humbly ask for your prayers for a friend of mine who was in a terrible accident and is in critical condition in the ICU. It doesn't look good, but I am keeping hope alive and praying for a miracle. I would deeply appreciate any prayers you will offer. Thank you.

Short of a miracle, my friend will never wake up, based on some test results the family received. Now some very difficult decisions have to be made. Thank you all very much for your prayers. Update: my friend woke up. It is not considered a coma anymore, although he has long periods of time where he is completely unresponsive. The doctors were wrong about the worst case diagnosis (they thought the brain stem had been severed, but clearly it was not). He is now talking a little bit, though not making a whole lot of sense sometimes (and other times talking in a way that lets us know he understands and processes some of what is said), and he's moving half of his body. He seems to recognize and respond to some people, and he seems to understand something awful happened to him. He has said a couple of times that he feels drunk. He has an extremely traumatic brain injury and a really long road stretches out ahead of him. We have no idea how much more (if at all) he will recover or what he will be capable of in the future, but he's in a fabulous hospital and we are blessed to still have him with us. I deeply appreciate continued prayers for my friend and his family. Thanks.

God is good. That is good news. Hopefully there will be some more improvement for him.

Wow! Hadn't heard anythign so I figured Burt was gone. Cool to knwo he is comprehending stuff at times...you're friend is still there, even if not in the way he used to be
