I was trying to look to see if we've gone over 100 at all, but I can't find anywhere that will tell me. Anyone know where I should look?

It's 106 now; the high was to be 109. Tomorrow will be another bummer of a chiller, also only 109. But Sunday looks promising: 111!

We have officially broke the record here in our city for having consecutive days over 100 degrees. We are on our 19th or 20th(I not sure which) day for temps over 100 and it doesn't look like we are going to get a break soon. Mosts days are still 103 and higher. Forecast says more of the same through at least next Tuesday. I am just thankful I work indoors where it is cool!

SW Oklahoma has had a reprieve for the last couple days. The high today is to be a chilly 95 (normal high for this time of year), but we've got another full week of 100+ in the forecast. I picked a WONDERFUL time to start cycling!!

I thought we were supposed to get a cool front (Highs only 97!) this week, but it didn't happen. I'm reallllllly getting tired of 101 - 103.

I am further south of you Pstate, my grass is a beautiful tan and crunchy.....the rain from the Gulf seems to part just before arriving here and then reforms just north of us....

Pale, look at it this way: if your grass is brown and crunchy, at least you don't have to be out in the heat mowing it. We've been getting just enough rain to keep the grass growing, and I really feel bad for my hubby having to go out to mow it in the sweltering heat. Not quite bad enough to offer to do it for him, though!

Hoosier - my husband got some sort of band at the localoutdoors store. You soak it in cool water for 15 minutes - it swells and retains the water - and then he ties it around his neck. He says it makes a HUGE difference - that was until I accidentally put it in the washer. BIG mistake - but I did go get him 3 more - about $7.95 each.

We have barely had any summer here at all. Our typical 'June gloom' continued through early August, and we just had a couple of days over 85. I certainly don't miss the $300 electric bills though!
I was in San Francisco for a couple of days last week, and it was COLD! I mean colder than normal - it's rarely warm in SF in August.

Skittles, I will have to check that out because even though he doesn't enjoy mowing under any circumstances, I know he is just miserable lately when he has to do it. Thanks!

I've picked them up at a craft show for $5 apiece, at Walmart (closer to $5-6) in the outdoor section and at Atwoods (a farm type store) in the same $5-6 range. My husband and his friends use them all summer when they fish. I've been known to wear them while mowing the lawn. They last a couple of years before the "crystal" die and won't swell and hold water anymore. Super cold when you activate them and store them in an ice water bath. Then you just dry them out and store them until you are ready to use them again.

Just don't accidentally put them in the washing machine.

^^^ How manly is it to be in the hospital with a heat stroke? Not trying to be a smarty pants or anything, but manly or womanly does kinda go out the door when it is 110 in the shade.
