Does anyone have any guidance on what FL banks are supposed to be doing at this point with regard to registering or licensing loan originators who are employees of the bank? I am a bit confused and don't want to miss a deadline.

If your bank is regulated by a federal agency, you just need to start working on your policy and procedures, unless Florida law says that federally regulated banks need to apply for state registration in the meantime. It is estimated that the Registry will not be accepting federal registrations until early 2011.

Check out the FDIC Financial Institution Letter FIL 43-2010 for more information and links.

The federal regulators will make advance public announcement of when the Registry will begin accepting federal registrations, and then you will have 180 days from that time to comply.
