Scenerio..
Bank files SAR for possible tax evasion.
IRS sends summons to bank requesting all information back 6 years.
IRS also send summons to suspect.
Suspect retains a lawyer.
Lawer requests copies of all documents that we sent to the IRS.
SAR's are suppose to be completely confidential, does the lawer get copies of this or not?

No, the lawyer does not get a copy of the SAR. His request is in response to the IRS summons your bank received for all information going back 6 years. He gets a copy of everything you sent to the IRS based on the summons you received from them. The SAR has nothing to do with it.

The IRS didn't disclose that they received a SAR when they notified the suspect. I'm sure they only let him know that they have started an investigation into his activity and that they've requested records from his bank. The lawyer simply wants a copy of all those records.

Agreed; there is nothing that suggests lawyer is asking about anything other than documents produced in response to summons.

You charged the IRS for the documents according to their fee schedule. However, you charge the customer for the documents according to your fee schedule. I suggest you collect your payment in advance.
