Here's a chart that may help you narrow down and select among the 31 topics that will be presented during the 11 concurrent sessions. It'll be hard to choose just 11! Thanks to Al Miller for the inspiration; I believe he's done a schedule in past years. The 2002 RCC looks to be a real compliance "feast". I'm going.

Good work. Can you add in the preconference workshops?

There is also info here for a planner, http://www.aba.com/Conferences+and+Education/ce_regulatory_compliance_advanceprogram.htm but your layout is better as a schedule.

I see a number of our BOL regulars are speaking at the conference. It certainly looks like they've lined up a terrific set of topics and speakers.

I'd like to hear who all is going. Is there any interest in having a BOL get-together down there? Any ideas?

I'd love to see old friends and make new ones. I'm booked Monday the 3rd. Are we going to do another poll of what night things can be done?

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Several of us will be arriving Saturday and plan to get together Saturday night to see what we can get into. I really haven't looked at the schedule to see what's happening Sunday night. Any possiblities there?

I will be arriving on Saturday, hopefully, I havent registered yet but plan to get on that this week. I have never been to New Orleans so my husband and myself are going to stay a few days afterwards to enjoy the area. Any suggestions about what to do after the conference, those of you who may have been there before?

Eat!
My wife and I are big Emeril Lagasse fans. He's got 3 restaurants in New Orleans:
http://www.emerils.com/restaurants/index.htm
Besides these, I'm told Brennan's serves arguably the world's greatest brunch. For creole, Commanders Palace - - top of the heap!

In addition to Emeril's restaurants, there are numerous other fine dining establishments in N'awlins: Commander's Palace, Brennan's, Antoine's, Tujagues, The Pelican Club, Mr B's Bistro, Bayona, Court of the 2 Sisters, just to name of few that I have visited and enjoyed over the last 10 years.

There are a number of interesting tours in and out of the city, and there are also a number of interesting plantation homes you can visit.

I would recommend getting either a Fodor's Guide to New Orleans or the Irreverent Guid to New Orleans. Either one will provide you with some good ideas.

Oh, my....where should you begin?

Last year my wife & I greatly enjoyed Arnaud's Sunday Brunch & Jazz. It was wonderful!

We also enjoyed a lovely jazz luncheon buffet at the Court of Two Sisters another day. It was reasonably priced, the food was good and you got to choose from among countless cajun, creole & other favorites. The court itself is charming.

On the other hand, I had occasion to revisit Broussard's after many years and would not recommend it at all.

Another first time stop last year was Commander's Palace. The food, service and atmosphere were nice, but next trip I'll return to Antoine's, instead. Antoine's has a staggering menu & everything is magnificent. The restaurant has been run by the same family since 1840 and its list of famous dishes goes on and on.

There is a wonderful review of New Orleans restaurants in the New York Times this morning. It covers primarily the new ones that have opened.

A short visit to the Big Easy is punishing--so little time and appetite, so many restaurants you won't get to try. Careful planning and strategy is required.

Begin with a policy statement: Life is short. I will not cheap-out and waste a dining opportunity to save a few bucks. 'Nawlins-class restaurants do not exist in my home town--probably not in my state.

Next comes your budget: Meals at Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, etc., etc., ..... are the reason why equity lines were invented. The great memories will outlast the payments.

Finally, an operating procedure: Research via dining establishments' websites must be completed 45 days in advance of the trip. Recognizing that the most popular destinations fill up months in advance, reservations should be made at least 14 days in advance. Confirmed choices should be documented by printing relevant pages from website--MapBlast map is optional. During the event, great control must be exercised to avoid snacks, junk food and other distractions.

Finally, reservations are made, however, after having to cancel attending last year's RCC (some silly thought that I should be here just because the FDIC Compliance Exam was in process), I'm back on track for this year. We are vacationing before the conference, but plan to return to NO on Saturday, so either Saturday or Sunday is fine. Not everyone will be there Saturday, but if the Opening Reception on Sunday is good enough, we probably won't want dinner after, anyway.

How about some pins (or ribbons or ??), BOL, so we can more easily identify each other. I'm sure someone who will be there on Saturday would help distribute them. It appears you only need one platinum and one gold.

I am planning on attending---I have been silent on the site recently due to projects at work and 2 week vacation. But I plan to be there and would love to finally meet all of you.

I am editing to add that I plan to arrive Saturday. Have never been to New Orleans - since it is June, look for the person with the extremely straight blonde hair. I won't even bother trying for a slight curl.

Just thought I'd re-activate this. BOL's Special Banker Briefing on April 17th said "Please join us Sunday evening, June 2, 2002, as BOL users gather in the French Quarter after the ABA reception on the opening night of the NRCC conference. We'll be loading up a shuttle from the hotel and heading down to where we can mingle and visit amid the sounds of Dixieland jazz. More details to follow... Mark your calendars now!"

So far the following BOL users are planning to attend the ABA conference:

Kathleen Blanchard
Paul Brinker
kcarter
Ken Holmes
Bill Ludwig
Al Miller
Tina Sweet
Louvera Walden
cwilliams
Andy Zavoina

Anyone else?

For those of you who are going, here's the plan:

On Sunday night, after the official ABA reception, we're asking BOL users to join us downstairs in the lobby of the hotel. We'll take the shuttle down to the French Quarter where BOL will buy a round of drinks for everyone. For those of you who have other plans early that evening, feel free to drop by later. We're finalizing our arrangements for which night spot we'll be going to early next week and I'll post details then.

Ken, so sorry you won't be there. I think the ABA program looks fantastic.
