Hello,

What is an acceptable IT staff turnover rate for
banks, nationally and internationally. Have there
been any studies done on this? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the standard but in the 2 1/2 years I've been here we have had one person leave. Total staff size is 8 FTE.

Some of the "acceptability" rate will depend upon how quickly those leaving can be replaced and at what cost. Also, there is a cost to turnover over and above the search costs; i.e., the bank must start paying social security again. If you have holes in the staff, can you fill them with professional level temps? All of that factors into the risk and the management of that risk. Also, what is causing the turnover...is there a management issue that must be addressed?

Are you referring to the bank's portion of the payroll tax that they would not have to pay on the original employee's salary above the cutoff?

Hi, First of all ,I don't think there is standard for such specific staff . Second it depends on the staff number and its position in the IT dept. As well as I know the IT staff is always looking for changing specilly those who are updated in the new IT .What should you enquiry is that when the IT staff leave all the programs he developped and/or password were passed to who will replace him and the bank's running day to day will not alterate by his departure .

Speaking of turnover - does anyone know a job site to look for these IT jobs available?
