I have a client that has retained escheated dormant account signature cards since the 1990s. What is the retention period for escheated dormant account signature cards?

My understanding is that for 'closed' accounts you must retain the card 5 years after the closing date. I don't think escheated accounts, for this purpose, are any different than 'closed' accounts. So I think you would be safe to dispose of the 1990's cards!
