Today's (Jan 7) top stories on BOL has information about the new federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act which rewrites the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act. Has anyone noticed that it is dated Jan 7, 2003 instead of Jan 7, 2004? Does this have any effect on its contents?

No effect. The bill was introduced originally on 1-7-03, just by coincidence. It was signed by Pres. Bush on 12-19-03 & became public law 108-189.

I think the version of the bill you see using the BOL link was the initial bill that was introduced in the House of Representatives. If you go to the Library of Congress web site and go to Thomas and do a search of HR 100, you will see that there are several versions of the bill. You will want to view the version that was agreed to by both the House and the Senate. I just tried doing this and the Government Printing Office has not yet made it available. It looks like the Senate made an amendment on 11/21/03. Give the GPO a little more time and they should post the bill.

Thanks Bartman and Anonymous. That was some coincidence with the dates. I appreciate the information from both of you.
