Get them a pizza while you have a great turkey meal.
Or get them McDonalds as there really is no beef in the hamburgers.

Babo - how do you roast your pumpkin? I have one I need cook and freeze and I've heard that roasting is much better than cooking.
I scrub the outside with a brush, then cut in half. After I remove the seed and stringy mass, I bake it skin side up at 350 for 30-45 minutes. Smells sooooooo good. With the seed, I rinse well then boil for 5 minutes in heavily salted water. Spread on parchment lined cookie sheet and roast at 250 for 30-60 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes. And thanks for the crust recipe!

Do they eat fish? My brother is a "pescetarian" which means he is allowed to eat seafood (but when his girlfriend isn't around he has been seen eating HOT DOGS!) Anyway, if they eat fish, you could make a nice salmon or set out a shrimp cocktail, or something along those lines.

No, they're the "no food with a face" types. Eggs, butter, milk, etc... are fair game, though.
I may make a small turkey that weekend, though, so I'll have authentic turkey dinner leftovers.

::whips up pumpkin pie, packs for trip to LA with a giant economy size tub of cool whip for Happy:: We're going to someone else's for Thanksgiving for the first time ( I'm going to be having withdrawal symptoms soon) but I still plan to make a small turkey so we have the leftovers and soup.

I think I'd just have them bring their own "main dish". I use worcheshire sauce in almost EVERYTHING! LOL!

QM - do you not eat honey either? I've heard the strictest of the strict do not...

QMs right. Pure vegans won't use honey because it comes from a bee. The DIL has gotten away a bit from all organic.

But, bees were not harmed or injured in this process...so what's the problem I wonder?

The vegan decision is hers alone. Although when they prepare common foods, they use vegan methods, such as olive oil, vegan margerine (which he says he prefers) instead of butter or regular margerine.
He has milk, she has Silk.

But, bees were not harmed or injured in this process...so what's the problem I wonder? Exactly what I was wondering! But I've read a strict vegan will not.

From what I understand, for strict vegan, anything that is animal related is a no-no. DIL feels that you are harming the bees by taking their honey and combs.
Sheering a sheep is a good thing, but wool is bad for vegans and some vegetarians.
DIL = no wool/silk/etc; Son = whatever he wants.

"Pure vegans won't eat anything that is derived from a living being." What is honey = Bee Barf So what is a Vegetable Just cause they can't hear it scream doesn't mean they are not killing something. Vegans = Cult They are just messed up in the head. They need to be set down and forced to eat a BK double whopper, a KFC double down and a Long John Siver Seafood sampler. And made to love it.
