I have used a Kirby for years. It's what my mom always had. Doesn't break down very often. I think I got mine when my son was in the 8th grade and he is almost 27. Maybe had to get a new belt and that's about it!

I love my Dyson and have the animail. That being said, I don't use any of the "animal" attachments.

My Dyson broke down after 6 years, and I have replaced with a Shark Navigator. So far it's worked very well and costs considerably less than the Dyson.

On another note though, has anyone used the Dyson Blade hand dryers? Those are AWESOME!

I have an old Hoover that I found in the closet of my house when I bought it last year. Also a 25+ year old Electrolux canister vac that belonged to my brother. They both make the pretty sweeper marks on the floor so everyone knows that I vacuumed. All I need.

Yikes! I have an Oreck and not one of you mentioned having one.

Maybe it's time for an upgrade.

Maybe my husband isn't loony for vacuuming every other day.

I have an Oreck too, and I LOVE it! My mom has had her Oreck for more than 10 years and replaced a belt once. I have two cats and a dog, and it works great. The Oreck is a little different - the actual sweeper doesn't have attachments. It comes with a small handheld that has all the attachments.

I've had this one for about 3 years and it's still going strong.

I have a Pfaff and love it...poor thing is up in a closet for now until I finish school and have time to sew again! It does embroidery work too, not to mention the 500 stitches it can do!!! smile

MB Guy. A Bernina. Swiss made (imagine, something not made in China). Bought it ten years ago. Sewing/quiltmaking is a hobby/remedy so I certainly put it through its paces. never had to repair it. Cleaned once per year by a professional. Pfaff has been getting some rave reviews from fellow quilters so its certainly one to check out if you are in the market. the downside to my Bernina is that it is somewhat heavy. Some of the newer machines are lightweight and perform some of the same "tricks" that mine does. However, I am not, I repeat, not buying another machine in my lifetime. I think.

I have a MsChillmore...no, sadly, she isn't for sale...

I have no plans on upgraded or replacement models, at least until I win the powerball and am suddenly attractive to 28 year old blonde female swimsuit models (i needed to clarify the female so Peepers wouldn't start saying "pick me pick me")

We bought a Bissell for pets - FANTASTIC! it has a clear canister you just dump out - no bags to hassle with. I was desparate for something that cuold handle pet hair - had a Eureka before - vacuumed with it, then vacuumed with the Bissell - OMG you'd have thought I had never vacuumed.

We bought a Dyson when our daughter was born and we LOVE it. That thing is 5 years old and we've never had one single issue with it. We had two cats at the time but we chose to get the regular Dyson instead of the animal one. Like someone already mentioned, it was a $100 difference for one attachment. Not worth it in my mind, as the regular Dyson works wonders. It always picked up all the cat hair off of the carpet and furniture. Now we have mostly hardwood floors and the only rooms with carpet are 2 of the 4 bedrooms. The Dyson works great on hardwood floors, carpets and area rugs.

If this thing ever dies, I am getting another one. But so far so good! smile
