I think I'm about to trade in my car and buy a new '10 Nissan Altima. I've been talking to the dealership for about a week and I can get an amazing deal on the 2.5SL model - fully loaded, white outside, black leather inside, heated seats, moonroof, the works. I love it. I test drove it today and liked it a lot.

Anyone else have an Altima - or any other Nissan? Thoughts? I've heard they're good, dependable cars that last a while. The warranty is great.

It was between the Altima and the Accord (I used to have an Accord it was my favorite car) but the Nissan dealership is giving me a deal that Honda can't match. I've never had a Nissan, so I just don't know what to think...

Way, way south.
Altimas have good acceleration, almost to a fault. They are geared so that you almost spin the tires every time you step on the gas.

They are very reliable as transportation, but not very exciting.

You make the big bucks; why not step up a little and buy the Maxima? MUCH nicer vehicle, and not outrageously expensive.

I have a nissan - 5 year, 90k miles, the only problem I have had is with the tires - still getting around 30 miles to the gallon(same as the day I got it)

all in all good - but because of the tire issue, i will never buy another nissan again

My husband and I both drive Nissans. I have a 2006 Nissan Quest with over 106,000 miles on it and plan on keeping it for a couple of more years. It still drives like new so no reason to trade. My husband enjoys his 2007 Frontier.

I have a sentra.

The tires that they used on my car were used on my model only - for two years only.

They are incredibly hard to find - and a tad bit mroe expensive

How many recalls have there been since 2007? Looks like more than a dozen....

I would never buy anything but a Honda, deal or not! Just put a new set of tires on at 85,000 miles. Only other expenses were oil changes. Also have a 2000 Civic with 165,000, (two sets of tires, one battery, one muffler and four front brake jobs, two rear brake jobs)and previously had a 1997 Civic that was traded at 197,000 miles. Like the ad sayas, it may used but it is still a Honda!

Pulling people out of the ditc...
Have owned a Nissan Sentra, Maxima, X-Terra...while I loved the Maxima, I have doubts that I would ever purchase another, but that is more because of the dealer than the product. All had at least 160,000 when I got rid of them. Currently own 2 Honda's, 08 CR-V and 10 Accord...likely will but the same again. CR-V has 105,000 miles, only have changed the oil and the wiper blades...

also, knowing the owner of the Honda dealership, getting the car at cost, and .9% financing is a plus...

HERE! I'm here!
I have an 08 Sentra and I love it, I thought about trading it in this year, because it's 3 years old, but I only have 15,000 miles on it, but everything else I looked at made me love my car more. I bought it showroom and have absolutely no problems with it.

You can never go wrong with Honda, but the Altima is a great car as well. We had one that had 156000 miles on it when we sold it and it was still running fine. They come well appointed for wha they are and for a 2.5L it moves well. The 3.5 just screams.

Eh, I am in the DEEP south, and my car is black on black; other than the dirtit shows, I don't mind it.

Oh, just make sure you get the windows tinted!

My neighbor has an old Maxima which she loves. Her Son in law has been using it so it is pretty beat but has about 140,000 miles on it and is still going strong. she recently purchased a new one and hates it. She tried the new altima and hated it more.

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot and don't think I will every buy honda again. Mileage sucks (about 12 mpg). The funny thing is we traded in a Dodge Ram which also got 12 mpg hoping for better mileage and better driving in bad weather!. We recently had to have the air conditioner repaired (thank god we bought the extended warranty when we switched from a lease to a loan - only cost me the $100 deductible instead of the $600 it would have cost. It only has 28,000 miles on it. My daughter and son in law each had Accords and I found them to be some of the most uncomfortable cars. He had a fairly loaded model - hers was the basic one. The seats are some weird type of fabric (microfiber?) and are impossible to clean pet hair out of. He recently got a 2004 Acura CL 2 door which he claims to love (I haven't seen it yet) but then he's always liked Honda. Honda had a recall on some brakes on their mini-van and another car but not the Pilot even though I have the same issue with the Pilot (inconsistent feel on the brake pedal - sometimes it goes all the way to the floor and other times it barely moves before the truck stops).

I really like my 2005 Altima V6. The acceleration is great and the handling is about the best you can get from a front wheel drive. The gas mileage is good on the highway (I get about 32mpg) but not so good in city driving (20mpg). My prior car was a 1995 Maxima and my positive experience with that car made the Altima an easy decision. Consumer Reports has rated the Altima as a top pick for a number of years now.
