DD Regs,

Did you just find out that you passed the exam from November 5th? How were you notified?

InFairness,

It takes so long because they allow you to comment on questions that you felt were not clear or did not provide enough information. If numerous people complained about the same question, it is thrown out. I'm sure this process takes time because a group of people have to decide what to do about the questions.

I took the exam while at the ABA Compliance School in Atlanta. (October 16). I received an E-mail yesterday congratulating me. Annom is right, they said it would take 4-6 weeks for results to be announced cause they review the comments (of which I wrote about 6) and they review questions that too many miss to see if they need tossed out.

Just got the details letter. Needed a 71% or higher to pass, I Just made it, with a little room to spare.

For those of you who used the ABA Study Guide, are the questions at the end of each study similar to the questions on the test?

amicomply: The questions were similar in format but not the same. Also, there were a lot of situational questions and they wanted you to pick the "BEST" response or what would you do "FIRST" in this situation.

We had several people in our Compliance Department taking the exam at different times. Since our institution was paying for the books, we each ended up buying one. It probably wasn't worth the money. Nor was the online course. We have text books from 2008, 2009, and 2010. The material was basically the same. The questions in the text books were basically the same and the sample test from the online course was exactly the same. I took the test on Friday and they still had a question that referenced non-local checks (Reg. CC which was changed in Febuary 2010). Also, while they stated Reg. GG and the S.A.F.E. Act would be on the test, there was only one question apiece. And, although I studied by reading the Reference Guide, taking the online course and going over and over questions, I still walked out of the test feeling like an idiot...

Re: Reg CC "non-local" checks being referenced on the test. I think that is totally unacceptable--we are supposed to remain current on all compliance issues, and yet "they" can't update a test!?

Well, when I took the test last year, it dealt with old RESPA while we were working on new RESPA. crazy

I just took the exam and used a borrowed 5 year old study guide along with the Big Orange Book for anything that was new or changed. This was a very time-consuming way to study. If I had to choose again, I would have bought a current study guide.

My bank paid the test fee, but not for any study materials. (Management probably couldn't figure out why, at 60 years old, I wanted to do this now. But my life just got simplified enough to make time for the studying.)

Like many of you, I was not at all confident of my performance. It is many years since grad school and my ability to retain what I was studying had definitely diminished. So my advise is: If any of you are contemplating taking the exam, go for it now! Don't wait.

I'm still waiting on results too. I'm taking just tomorrow off, and figure that could be the day the e-mail will arrive.

No word yet!! I was also wondering if 71% will be the passing grade for the Proctored exams since DD Regs said that was the score for the exam at the ABA school. I guess only time will tell. I almost think this waiting is becoming worse than all the studying.
