Bonnie - I love Garbage. My brother got me to listen to them a few years ago and I stole his 2 CDs. Well, actually borrowed for a length of time. He took them back.

I am sooooo jealous you get to go snowmobiling in Minnesota. My husband is leaving for the UP Wednesday. Here in IL - it NEVER snows!
Where in IL do you live? We are under winter advisory from midnight tonight until 6 tomorrow night. 5-7 inches of snow expected. Snow Angel time!
Western suburbs! We have about 2 inches now! I want a blizzard!

18 inches of powder this weekend. Then I wake up this morning and it is -28 with a windchill of -40. Today's high is supposed to be between -5 and 0. Supposed to be like this all week. Not having fun. Cars don't seem to like it very much either.

Well, we're not getting the snow here but it is currently 7 with a windchill of -14 and what is rare, the wind is blowing at 24mph.

Thanks Nikko for clarifing that. I now live in Idaho, but grew up in "lovely" Fargo and for the first year I lived here everyone asked me that question, but a little norwegian can come out if you need it to!

it's great for snowmobiling because it is so flat. There is a lot of open land with no trees and lots of snow. I don't mind playing in the snow but when the windchil is -40 I prefer to stay in. A friend of mine received frost bite on his face in as little as 20 minutes on his snowmobile. Looks like he was punched in the face. I'll wait until it is a bit warmer.

Nikko - that is true. It is crucial you dress properly, but I would be so tempted to go even at 40 below I would have to go for at least a quick trip. You'd be dead if you broke down though!
Stay warm!!!

Posting today from our Northern Michigan affiliate in Petoskey. It isn't that it's that much colder than home, but the snow is deeper. On the drive up yesterday I passed the 45th parallel, and there's a sign that says "you are halfway between the Equator and the North Pole". At the time, it was snowing sideways. I swear I'm closer to the pole than the equator...

This weather alert just came in my email:
WIND CHILL WARNING A WINF CHILL WARNING has been issued for tonight through Wednesday noon for much of the region. An arctic front will bring periods of snow Tuesday evening followed by extremely cold weather. Blowing snow will cause very low visibility and lots of drifting. Temperatures will fall to the -20s. Wind Chill values will be in the -40 to -60 range tonight.

Thanks, I'm fine. I am assuming the same storm is headed for you as well, be careful. The main roads are fine, but the town my office is in is at the top of a huge hill, with one way streets (that aren't ever plowed ), so that's where it is tricky.

So much for warm sunny Florida. Right now it's 36 and the high today is only going up to 56! Brrrrrr!!!! But at least it should be back in the upper 60's and low 70's by the weekend!
And I'm headed to the golf course this afternoon for a tournament...But after reading some of these posts, I'm glad I'm not heading out with a shovel instead of a wedge!

Nikko, it sounds like you're getting the weather that my parents and in-laws had yesterday in northeastern Montana. Last night we called my husband's parents; their thermometer only registers to -35. Well, the mercury was below that and the wind was blowing. Roads are all emergency travel only. My parents, a little to the south, had only -25 and fortunately no wind. However, their roads are closing as fast as they can get them open. They have not had a winter like this since 1978.
