The speculation surrounding Pitt is all over the board, from O-coordinators at Okie State, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, to D-coordinators at VTech and Penn State, to NFL retreads like John Fox, Marvin Lewis, and Russ Grimm. No clue which direction they will go. The AD is Steve Pedersen, who Nebraska fans will remember as 'the fool that hired Callahan'.

Saw a article that Mack Brown was going to retire this year, but after a 5-7 season didn't want to go out that way. Muschamp didn't feel like waiting anymore, so took the Florida job.

The Big Ten announced their divisions today, and named them the Leaders Division and the Legends Division......what? This is what you get when these conferences expand beyond the point where Eastern and Western, or Northern and Southern, make sense.

I thought it should be called the Leaders and Losers, with tOSU in the Leaders and U of M in the Losers smirk

Can't name it "Losers" -- they'd all be in the same division!

Sorry. It was a cheap shot. blush

Did you see the names for the Big 10 player awards? The award for top quarterback is the Griese-Brees award. Two great quarterbacks, for sure, but did no one say this to themselves out loud? If these awards are televised, Pepto Bismol should be the sponsor of this award.

I was wondering how they were going to name the divisions because they are blatantly non-geographic in formation.

This is from Onion News right? How could they not include Brady?

The conference also on Monday unveiled a new logo -- it is a block "Big Ten" with the numeral 10 embedded in the word last two letters of Big -- as well as two-person trophy names for 18 new football awards, including the Stagg-Paterno Championship Trophy and the Hayes-Schembechler Coach of the Year.

With Nebraska becoming the conference's 12th team earlier this year, the conference created new divisions that it introduced in September. Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin will be in the Leaders Division, with Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern in the Legends Division

Tom Brady? The guy who barely could start at Michigan? I'm thinking they coulda picked a better guy than Brees (great NFL qb, good college qb), but i wouldn't pick Brady.

(Pale, if that was a tongue-in-cheek comment, then disregard my comment.)

i think Pale was going for humorous effect as I am sure he realizes that the more famous Griese, Bob was a star at Purdue and is the one whose name is on that trophy.

Yeah......Drew Brees though....still not sure about that one. Then again...what other choices are there? Len Dawson.....Chuck Fusina (although Penn State wasn't a big 10 member when he played)...Chuck Long. Hmm...

i think they probably settled on Brees as he also was a purdue alum so it had a little commonality. Plus he may hold some or most of the Big 10 passing records.

I would have thought Art Schlichter was a sure bet for an award whistle

Oh, I don't know... With the overall record being in favor of Michigan (57–44–6) and Michigan having the most all-time wins and the highest winning percentage in college football history, yeah, they're definitely the losers... smirk

Please...

Plus the Buckeyes are in Ohio. The only redeeming quality about the state of Ohio is Cedar Point. wink

Uhm, he DID start at Michigan and he was very good. He started every game of the 1998 and 1999 seasons. During his first full year as starter, he set Michigan records for most pass attempts and completions in a season (214). He was All-Big Ten for both seasons and team captain his senior year. The Wolverines won 20 of 25 games when he started and shared the Big Ten Conference title in 1998. Brady capped that season with a win over Arkansas in the Citrus Bowl. In the 1999 season, Brady led Michigan to an overtime win in the Orange Bowl over Alabama, throwing for 369 yards and four touchdowns.

Yeah, what a loser...

I think, due to his name recognition, the award could have been named after him. He is, bar none, the best QB to come out of Michigan and go to the NFL.

Please stick to talking about Oklahoma. Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. Or whatever. wink
