Why yes, I did my undergrad in Detroit and I love that city. But I'm not implying that Detroit is better than Ohio. crazy But, overall, Michigan is a prettier state. grin

Honestly though, I just despise the entire state of Ohio for many reasons. Driving through it to go to Michigan makes me break out in hives. I think I'm allergic to Ohio. laugh

Oh come on, never!!!

I mean, he, as a grown man, had NO IDEA what his daddy was doing. No clue. Why would he? This man is full of integrity and honesty. Forget the cheating at Florida, forget the stolen laptop. He's been unfairly targeted!!! He exemplifies what college athletes are about.

Anybody watch the 30 for 30 special about SMU on ESPN?

Those were the good old days when buying a star player a new Trans Am was accepted behavior.

My Dad was best friends with the ticket manager at SMU in these glory days...he went there from TCU as "SMU paid for better athletes." I have DVR'd it but haven't watched it.

All those 30 for 30 specials are excellent. I was considering buying the DVD set they keep advertising. I have only seen about 3 of them.

(Pale, if that was a tongue-in-cheek comment, then disregard my comment.)

Uhm, he DID start at Michigan and he was very good. He started every game of the 1998 and 1999 seasons. During his first full year as starter, he set Michigan records for most pass attempts and completions in a season (214). He was All-Big Ten for both seasons and team captain his senior year. The Wolverines won 20 of 25 games when he started and shared the Big Ten Conference title in 1998. Brady capped that season with a win over Arkansas in the Citrus Bowl. In the 1999 season, Brady led Michigan to an overtime win in the Orange Bowl over Alabama, throwing for 369 yards and four touchdowns.

Yeah, what a loser...

I think, due to his name recognition, the award could have been named after him. He is, bar none, the best QB to come out of Michigan and go to the NFL.

Please stick to talking about Oklahoma. Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. Or whatever. wink

I thought i recalled a guy who had to battle for the job at Michigan and was about a 7th round draft pick. If he did what you say he did, then he had a better college career than i thought. However, there is no way he had as accomplished a college career as the guys i listed like Chuck Fusina and Chuck Long (those guys nearly won the Heisman, pretty confident that Brady did not). Brady threw 35 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in his career at Michigan with 5300 yards. Doesn't sound "alltime great" to me. Undoubtedly, Brady is a surefire HOFer in the pros, but i would think college awards should be named after guys who had great COLLEGE careers, and i still don't think Brady qualifies. Oh.......and.........OOOOOOOOOOOklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!!!!

He shared time with Drew Henson, but he WAS the starter in his final two years. All those stats are attributed to him. He did not win the Heisman, but apparently you have to be paid to play college ball to receive that honor. wink

And I'm totally messing with you. You are also correct, he wasn't as great of a college QB as the guys you mentioned. Also, Chad Henne set whole bunch of UofM records. crazy

I always get the Oklahoma song stuck in my head whenever that state is mentioned. Love it!

very rarely does a great college QB make a great NFL QB. Danny Weurfel anyone? Major Applesauce? Jamarcus "it ain't my coke" Russell?

Don't forget Chris Winky!

Oh...I'm sorry, you said "great" QB. He just won the Heisman and then the runner-up showed him what a real QB was like in the Championship game. Now that runner-up was just named co-offensive coordinator at OU (his alma mater) and will have playing calling duties. Congrats to Josh Heupel!!!

The best thing about Brady at michigan was that he was around 7th on the depth chart at QB and he made it to be a starter and become a 3 time super bowl winner. A true success story about overcoming adversity and I hate Michigan and the Patriots but I respect what Brady has accomplished.

Speaking of great QB's who saw Sam Bradford run down the defensive back this weekend after he had recovered a fumble and was trying to score. Instant replay over turned the fumble but neither the db or sam knew that at the time. Lots of hustle on behalf of the rookie qb, his team had to love that.

I'm sure the fans loved it even more. He's had an impressive year for a rookie QB.

Yes, I'm very impressed with Bradford. Unlike Matthew Stafford in Detroit who is made of glass. crazy He had no injury issues at Georgia, but he goes to the Lions and if you merely look at him wrong, he breaks something. *sigh*

Oh Please! The only reason why Ohio doesn't fall into Kentucky and West Virginia is because Michigan $ucks!

LOY (Lock of the Year): Boise State over Utah in the Crazy People live in the Intermountain West Bowl (just kidding).

Just kidding about the bowl name....not kidding about Boise being a lock.

They are only like what.....7 or 8 places apart in the polls? I agree it's an easy lock, that's why it's a "lock". smile

How about a pick, that while not a "lock" in my book, goes against most people's grain (or at least the rankings/spread): Va. Tech over Stanford.

By cashing in, he's right in line with his coaches, AD's, school presidents, conferences, and the NCAA as a whole.
