Maybe not so bad. Lots of changes, but those usually take a while. Not sure of the structure of the purchasing bank, but considering they're out of Canada, maybe most folks here will keep their jobs.

Not much information being shared on this end either. Time will tell. Harris is pretty big which makes me a bit leary of keeping my job.

So sorry NP. They do have 234 job openings listed on their website - including a compliance manager.

Walden. . . I bet those positions where just frozen in anticipation for a flood of candidates that are now in the market.

So much for that potential new opportunity I was considering earlier this week. I'm not expecting an interview on that one any longer.

I know some people this will affect. Former co worker. M & I bought the bank that sold my bank off a few years back...Wow.

cost of regulations is driving many of the owners of small community banks to consider selling out, it will only get worse ..

M&I has been struggling for a couple years now. Was hoping they'd get it together but it lost too much in AZ real estate dealings. Harris has been in Chicago forever. A couple months back, Harris bought out Amcore which bumped them into the Madison area. MBO bought Harris way back in 1984. Maybe I should buy some MBO/Harris stock?

When I first saw the head line on Yahoo it said :"US BANK bought by Montreal Bank" I thought that US BANK was bought.

Please do not tell if you are buying Harris/MBO stock because it I buy or sell based upon this information, (and not knowing if you are an insider) bassed upon current media my buy or sell could be considered insider trading.

I worked for M&I in Wisconsin for ten years ... then after they bought Thunderbird bank in Arizona ... I transfered out there. Worked for the bank for about 5 years but then went to the data center for 13 years.
In hindsight ... M&I going to Arizona was a bad idea for them ... but who knew the economy was going to tank.
