I thought it would be fun to head down to baja Mexico for a fun 3 or 4 day vacation with my dad to celebrate our birthdays (not milestone ones I know, but just to party!). I keep hearing you can get these one for like $200 or so but the ones I alls ee seem pretty sketchy. Where you all go to book such a trip!

Just go to El Paso, go the border crossing and tell the guard you are Pedro's amigo. They will take care of the rest. smile

Seriously, stick with a club med, sandals, etc.

Hubby and I did a Sandals vacation for our honeymoon a few years back - LOVED IT!!!! Would like to do it again in the next couple of years if I can scrape together the money.

if you looking for a serious answer... i've found that doing it online through expedia is the cheapest route. i have been to riveria maya, the bahamas and the dominican republic all within the last 3 years.. and they were all inclusive! its the way to go. i compared every online site possible and expedia had the best deal each time. I even looked into apple vacations, sandals etc and still doing it yourself is cheaper and pretty easy too!!! It tells you which hotels are all inclusive!!

I booked a 5 night stay at a Sandal's resort last year through Travelocity. It included airfare also, and was cheaper that just the resort stay through the Saldal's site. I'll check out expedia and compare next time. Travelocity has some great last minute deals too.

No, that was just a parody of the what happened to the cruise thread post from yesterday.

Sometimes my humor is so subtle that I don't even get it.

We stayed at one in Cancun this summer and loved it. We have always done cruises and our experience was somewhat similar but slightly better. More things (basically everything) were included in the resort price as compared to a cruise price. Resort was a little more expensive but once a cruise is done "nickel and diming" you it was probably comparable. There were not a ton of dining options but all of the places to eat were very good. Lots more to do and the rooms, even the basic ones, were really nice and very spacious.

Oh, and we just went through a travel agent. When I checked out the prices online it was the same so we let someone else worry about it.

We've done Palace Resorts, Secrets and Riu. All were great.

I've done the travel agent routine and booked on my own. I got much better deals with Expedia or Travelocity.

I'd go with a well known chain. Some of the resorts looked pretty seedy.

I did Palace Resorts too and I used a travel agent. Nice thing about that is I didn't like my room, called my agent and *poof* better room.

I heard on the radio this morning that Expedia is not offering all of the airlines at this time, might be worth looking into some other sites as well if that is true.

Expedia has dropped American due to failure to reach a deal.

Cheek - I think it may depend on your travel agent. Ours was horrible. We used her for Secrets and had more problems using her than when we booked on our own.

Palace was very accommodating as was Riu. When a billing problem arose, it seemed that the staff at Secrets suddenly didn't understand English. The rest of our stay was wonderful
