I think I may be leaving the BlackBerry behind... Verizon IPhone to Help Apple Boost Sales, Combat Google and RIM snip - Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Verizon Wireless’s unveiling of its iPhone this week will shift the landscape in the wireless industry, helping Apple Inc. boost sales and vie for customers against Google Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd., analysts say.
Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone carrier, will introduce its iPhone at an event in New York on Jan. 11, according to a person familiar with the plans who could not be identified because the news isn’t yet public. The company will begin selling the device later in the month, the person said.

I have the iPhone 4 and might upgrade to the 5 when available. I don't typically upgrade every time, but I think I will this time.

I need a new phone ASAP! My Curve is on it's way out...I was only waiting to see if Verizon was actually getting the iPhone...with my new every 2 credit, I bet I can get the iPhone pretty cheap...

I tried to time the release of the new iphone each year to my yearly discount. It's not as cheap as the new every two but it's something.
I think I'm up for one year around August which should be shortly after the iphone 5 is out.

Last Friday, Apple started selling the iPhone 3GS for $49 (with a 2 yr contract of course).

Is it official that VZN will be only be running on the CDMA? I heard they were going to announce it today... My fingers were still crossed (but my hopes weren't too high) but it sounds like you just crushed what little hopes I had...

yes they announced today
however, you will be able to use your iphone as a mobile "hotspot" so you can connect up to 5 computers on your 3g connection, lets just hope you dont have to use your phone as a "phone"

Yeah, I just looked. I am so bummed... We have waited and waited and it's kinda like waiting for the Xbox 360 forever and seeing what it can do and by the time it is available to us, we get the original Xbox. I have another analogy that is totally not appropriate to say here, but let's just say after the long wait, the end result was totally uneventful and a complete let down in my opinion. Sigh...

I can strangely completely agree with your other anology - it was such a let down - however, the "improvements" and "upgrades" have been well worth the wait - would you disagree?

I read that if you want to leave ATT and move to Verizon you can't use your existing iPhone, you have to purchase the iPhone designed for Verizon.

the article online stated that they weren't sure that Verizon will get the iphone 5
WTH? if they get the 4 it would only stand to reason that they get the new one when it comes out each year

Did you really expect anything made by Apple to be transferrable in any way, shape or form?  lol, no. But I know some that purchased iPhones expecting to move to verizon (because of better coverage) and they will be surprised to learn they need to buy a new iPhone. I have no issues with ATT coverage on my iPhone.
