For HMDA purposes, is the application date the date the original application was received (even if incomplete)? Or, the actual date a fully completed application was received?

Incomplete? What's missing?

We go by date application was received as long as it has the basics completed. If a box isn't checked or joint intent isn't signed, that doesn't make the application incomplete for HMDA.

Pre-quals - the date the property is identified making it an application for HMDA purposes.

Pre-approvals and other requests - the date the "original" application is received.

In this case, what was missing is the co-borrower information. The husband brougt in an application and the wife was going to come in and complete her part of it, but did not do so for quite some time.

So, we were unsure of whether to use the date he brought in the app, or the date she came in and completed her part (and provided her income, etc.) in order to make it a completed application.



So, use the date he brought it in?
