Is it a common practice to report commercial loans with guarantors to the credit bureaus? Are there any specific requirements to address if the bank decides to stop reporting guarantors?

Our understanding was that you were permitted to do it; however you do not have to, so our bank has opted not to report loans with guarantors to the credit bureaus.

It is allowed but not all that common. One thing to be wary of if you DO report guarantors is the terms of the guarantees. Some limited guarantees only come into play when all efforts to collect from the borrower are exhausted. It would not be right to report that guarantor to a credit bureau when the loan is simply past due as they have no obligation at that point.

To stop, you can simply stop unless you have some contractual issue with the bureau.
