The customer came in with $6000 in cash to purchase a cashiers check, payable to herself. She was very concerned about this money being linked to her personal account in some way. She mentioned that she didn't want it to be seen in her account due to tax reasons. The bank knows of no tax levies or garnishments. Anyone think a SAR should be filed for any reason? Thanks.

Yes I would file. Suspicious behavior, over the minimum reporting limit, I would at least send it to my committee for consideration!

It sounds like she has admitted to you that there is some sort of tax evasion going on, so I would file.
