What are some ways you guys are identifying Beneficial Owners and how are you documenting it in your CIP?

We simply ask the customer at account opening. It is documented on our risk worksheet. Can the customer lie to us. . . sure, but at least we asked.

We also have a series of general questions to ascertain who the beneficial owners are...

Of course, depending of your risk mitigating controls, keep in mind that these questions are okay for accounts that pose low risks (domestic corps) more homework is needed for high risk relationships (foreign corps & trusts)...
