Could someone point me in the direction where REG DD state that you say "12 month CD" instead of giving a specific maturity date (12/12/02)on the TISA (or state anywhere else for that matter a specific date)? I am unable to find it, but have been told it is there...

Commentary 230.4:

(a)(2)(ii)(B)

1. Term. Describing the maturity of a time account as “1 year” or “6 months,” for example, illustrates a statement of the maturity of a time account as a term rather than a date (“January 10, 1995”).

I realize this is an old post, but just to clarify, you must provide the actual maturity date and not simply the term of the CD within account disclosures. Reg DD, in 230.4(a)(2)(ii)(B), allows you to state the maturity of a time account as a term rather than a date only when a consumer is requesting information about CD products (i.e. a customer calling in asking about CD product). Reg DD 230.4(b)(6)(i) requires you to state the actual maturity date in disclosures provide to customers at account opening.
