If a customer is disputing a recurring ACH debit from their account (where the bank is acting in an RDFI capacity), can we charge our Stop Pmt fee for an R10?

Is there a reason you're thinking you cannot?

Yes--if the dispute is the result of an unauthorized transaction, we were thinking it would be unfair to charge the customr for a stop pmt

Ask yourself another question. Does your bank charge a customer a stop payment fee when they file a debit card dispute? I'm guessing the answer is no so you wouldn't charge a fee in this case either.

It is certainly with the discretion of the bank, generally, to waive a fee.

Placing a stop payment seems counter-intuitive. By placing a stop payment the customer has knowledge their account will be charged by person X for an amount of Y, if they are aware of this charge in advance then how can it be fraud?
