I am looking for some feedback on what other banks are doing for customers who present ITIN numbers. Do you accept them for new accounts and loan customers? If so, what other identification do you require? If not, how do you handle loan denials and have you had any fair lending issues as a result of it? Thanks for any feedback!

We do open accounts for non-US citizens using an ITIN. In addition to the ITIN we require passport (Number and country of issuance)plus all the other CIP required info.

Thanks nemsi. So if they don't have a passport, I am assuming you would not open an account?

It would depend on the specific acceptable identification documents outlined within the Bank's CIP for non-resident aliens.

We would not open an account without the passport or other government issued documents evidencing nationality or residence and bearing a photograph. As Randy said it depends on what your CIP policy identifies as acceptable documents.
