Has anyone any experience with customers who frequently place stop payment orders on post-dated checks drawn on a HELOC? UCC seems to state that we have to honor the stop payment, but we're worried that there is something else going on. The checks are always to the same payee.

A check is a check, whether drawn on a deposit account or a HELOC. All UCC rules apply. However, you may also have a situation worth investigating. How you go about that will depend on the facts of the situation, but you certainly have something odd going on and perhaps -- dare I say it -- even suspicious. You should find out -- while continuing to honor all provisions in the UCC.
