Does anyone use any type of tracking or log for giving counter checks to customers?

Years ago we only kept a log so we could keep track of how many times we gave the same customer counter checks. After a point we would tell them that they had to order checks or we were going to start to charge them for counter checks. They just didn't want to pay to order their own checks and figured we would give them counter checks for free.
