I just found out today that after nearly 4 years in BSA (8 at the bank) my position is moving to our headquarters 2 hours away. There are three of us in the same position title and we all have to commute, move, or take severance. All of us are hourly.
I freaking LOVE this job and I've learned so much. I had the option of applying for the BSA Officer job and now this. I had to withdraw my application because I can't be in the next state over. I don't make enough money to move; my husband is the breadwinner and we farm part-time.
AUGH. Sorry for the rant. No one else would even understand what BSA is. LOL.

They don't get it until they get hit with a CMP. Ugh...that sucks....

Can you find a position closer to home? I am sorry to hear that. Best of luck.

What's a CMP? I hope to find a position within the same bank that's here, but it would end up being something akin to a head teller position most likely. All the non-client-facing jobs are consolidating into the headquarters. I'm not above taking a branch job at all, after all, that's how I started. I'd be the best dang head teller they'd have! I'm still reeling this morning. I used to joke that I wanted to stay in this position/department until I died; I have too much on my plate right now to die on September 2nd (my official end date). edited for clarity

Oh, duh. Okay. I'm just no sure how the bank would end up being hit with a CMP. Those of us losing our positions because we can't move would have to train incoming people, so it's not like the safety and soundness would be affected, right? Or am I missing something (which happens frequently)?

Sorry Becky, but you know this may open up a whole new career that you never thought about. Plus with your BSA experience and banking experience you would be an ideal candidate for any bank. Not a lot of people like BSA and don't want the job. Hang in there I say a whole new chapter of your working career is going to come.
By the way I thought CMP meant Contract Maintenance Person!!!

Becky, Have you broached the subject of working remotely, and then only having to come into the HQ once a week or possibly less?

MidwestCFE, I'm on LinkedIn and have it pulled up throughout the day, just like Bankers Online. I will be diligent in checking more readily at home as well. I too want cupcakes when I'm on here! I may have to make some this weekend... MB Guy, we all asked questions about working remotely part of the time and were denied; they want us there full-time, unfortunately.

Check Career Connect here on BOL too. It pulls from Indeed.com and often has listings you may not see elsewhere.

I'm wondering if I'm having an issue here at work trying to check Career Connect. Nothing happens when I click on it. I probably have to do it from home.

Becky- the link must be broken, it didn't work for me, either.

Don't just look for advertised jobs. Choose the banks in your area you would like to work for, and call the CEO and make an appointment to talk. I've been in banking since 1983 for a number of banks, and not one of the jobs were advertised. Go in and tell them what you can do for them. You have a specific area of knowledge that most bankers don't understand. Eight years in banking and four in BSA: you're golden.

Wow, that's interesting. Not something I would have thought of at all. I've always just sort of assumed if they're looking, they've posted. I guess that's not always the case! Thanks!!

Columbus, Indiana. We're fairly well-known for our architecture! And where Tony Stewart calls home, right? But I'm sorry to hear about this. The good thing is, you have some month's cushion to get back in the market. Best of luck, and even though it probably won't do any good you can drop my name (Oh, yeah? You know BaconBoy?? Me too!!) to get a foot in the door.

Columbus, Indiana. We're fairly well-known for our architecture! CBS Sunday Morning was in Columbus this past Sunday... very interesting indeed!
