So, I am considering, for 100% selfish reasons ($$$$), moving my pool hall to a space 3 1/2 times the size of our current location. If I do this, I will HAVE to make it a bar instead of a family pool hall, or it will fail.

So, as I contemplate the pros and cons of REAL bar ownership, the Break-n-Run Billiards Potential Conversion Virtual Bar is now open for business!!

Pours 10 shots of Goldschlager, wipes down the bar, and throws back the first one.

::Shudders:: Stuff did me on on my 21st and I still remember it. I'll have my favorite - a Long Island Iced Tea. I need to kill any germs I may have after hanging out with 1st graders yesterday.

Thanks, Fraud...I mean Frog...Lady.

I don't want to regret it later, but the money would be good.

Hmmm, I've closed a few bars in my day, but I don't know anything about opening one.

Frogster, it isn't everything, but losing much of it is a bad, bad thing.

Also, I've always wanted to have a 1st class pool hall. smile

Sweet. Sounds like fun! Good Luck in your endeavors. I might just have to make a road trip to check it out. Used to visit the pool hall quite a bit in my youth.

Pup,

That sounds awesome! Haven't played pool for some time now, but have great memories of playing in leagues and two national trips to Vegas. Good luck!

Will you have income and insurance from another household member?

I remember being in that bar/pool hall place in Arlington, thiking they needed live entertainment....

My daddy used to tell me that when we would discuss the man that I'd marry. He would always go on to say "...but it's so far ahead of what ever's in second place." smirk And I married for love crazy ...but I digress.

Would be great if you had a good day manager so you could stay at the bank until the new place takes off. Not a lot of people play pool during the day anyway, do they? Either way, I wish you the best of luck. My invitation to come play carries over to the new place, doesn't it? smile

Oh, and can I have a twisty straw so's I can share Freak's trough o'margaritas? It's HOT here today!!! cool

Pale,

BCBS isn't much more expensive than what I pay through the bank, so I can work with that.

::tosses Truffle a big, twisty straw::

I would actually love to build a stage to have live music as well. Live music some nights, comedy club other nights, etc. Homie got plans!!

Takes 3rd shot.

CO, I've been to Vegas for APA Masters once. It was enough to fuel my fire, and I'd like to go back again. Perhaps as a vendor next time?...my little brother is a tattoo artist and is still playing with the idea of a clothing line centered around our name and logo. smile

Considering there are places like Chili's restaurants nearby, I would bet there's no reason you couldn't open as a bar and still have a portion that's for families/underage. I hope this works out for you; sounds like a fun place to hang out!

Becky, I think there has to be a percentage of food-based income for that to work. That's one of the things I'm looking into.

EE, "poor" you is right!! wink
