Just curious to see if anyone has came across anything like this, if so how did you handle it.

Say you have an employee who befriends a customer and the customer decides they want that same employee to be their POA. Once the customer passes away the employee becomes the executor. The customer does have family but they leave everything to the employee.

I think this is a conflict of interest, I need to update our Code of Conduct policy and I wonder if this would be overkill or is it something that should be defined.

KeyCorp's Code of Ethics are online and I think you will find some intersting information in it regarding this issue:

You may have a real problem on your hands as I can see the relatives suing both the employee and the bank on this one.
